When You Are Asking ‘How To Start Marketing’ Are You Revealing Your Fear of Failure?

Our minds are filled with thoughts of what others may be thinking and if our decision was correct? Confidence can wane during our conversations we’ve had with confidants about this venture.
(This is the forth in our series on beginning marketing. The first was regarding the marketing jungle online. The second was in regard to a marketing mindset. The third began the fears of marketing)
The last post we brought out the 6 items that place fear into new marketers. This post will breakdown the first of those 6 (listed below); The Fear of Failure .

The Fear of Failure
When we enter a doorway called trying something new, it is quite difficult to see long term. The room seems small and with limited exits. It will ultimately feel as though there are several windows that have multiple eyes looking in; eyes of our family and friends, each is saying things like, “I don’t think he/she is doing the right thing with this idea?”
Realize that no great task in human history has been accomplished without taking that first step. The first step is the decision to make a change in our lives. Regardless of the doubts other successful inventors, entrepreneurs, great thinkers have had, they all had their doubters.
So what characteristic set these individuals apart?
They had a strong belief in themselves and a solid goal they were going after. Each one did not necessarily know ahead of time how they were going to accomplish their tasks to the end but they knew their ideas were right and they started out to prove it to themselves.
During the trials that they ventured into, they tested their theories and hypothesis, some failed many times, but they stuck to their dreams and goals. No matter what was said about them by doubters or friends, they kept trying until one day they had the answers.
If we are worried about what others think about us and don’t go through with our dreams or reaching our goals, we have failed. Then you show them how right they were in those beliefs. Remember, the internet is still young but has incredible far-reaching power. You can ’speak’ to multiples of people that want and need answers to solutions in their own lives. If you have an answer for them, any answer, you are on your way to success.
You have to step out beyond your own comfort zone and risk failure to become successful. These two terms are simply connected. Making the decision to try begins the process. It starts you on the path to beating your fear.
Many beginners wonder how to start marketing? But they make their biggest mistake by continuing to wonder. Being afraid to do anything can become overwhelming, which stops some from doing anything. Many times just by beginning the process will alleviate this fear. Taking the initiative to start is by its own definition, beginning to market.
Overcoming fear means that you look it in the eye and attack it. The only way to get over fear requires you to face it and have confidence that you can complete the task, and follow through. Once you do accomplish each goal you have set, give yourself time to have a small celebration. This will help your confidence to go on to the next task and intermediate goal.
I believe that Ilka Chase said it best;
“The only people who never fail are those that never try.”
