consistent element to be effective. It is a simple word that most do
not understand, and consequently, blame other factors for failure.
What is that word?

COMMUNICATION

Marketing anything is simply communication.
All businesses, to be successful, require communication
whether internally or externally. As an internet marketer you prepare words
every day to get a message out. Whether you use the social markets,
prepare videos, write in blogs or articles or prepare ads,
it is extremely important that your words communicate.

Your audience is fickle, limited in attention and expect to be “WOWED”!
(I find this shallow but unfortunately this is what our society has been reduced to)

There was a time where people actually read, digested,
and then replayed information. An article came out in the paper and once read,
we would actually communicated with friends, family or coffee-shop goers
regarding this idea, opinion, report. We would express our insights,
right or wrong, and engage in debate.

What Is A Newspaper?

This act took time, effort, understanding and the ability to communicate
our thoughts back. If our opinion was not understood, we had to reformulate
these words to be understood. We also had to listen to the others express
theirs to determine if our thoughts were valid,
then determine which direction to take.

Now days, information is available everywhere and it takes on less seriousness,
less validity because of this abundance that we skim, we peruse,
we scan, we highlight a word here or there, and then make up our minds.
This is one main reason that I believe ignorance has grown into our
greatest commodity; we lack the drive to research and understand.

Communication in sound-bites, in headlines or sub-heads, in passing
only makes us weaker in formulating the messages we want others to hear.
Now, if our videos do not have babies dancing, cats swinging from fan blades,
or a man being impaled in the groin, we are not as popular.

A Commodity Of Use

This makes communication a much different commodity,
one that if effective in fleeting moments, is a winner,
but if not of interest than a lost opportunity.

Internet marketing is special due to the viral elements associated
with computer uses. Millions are online every day, searching;
some for entertainment while others for answers.
The ethics of marketing are eroding just as fast. It is a ‘play-station’ environment,
an ‘i-phone’ quick-shot capture, a flashing billboard; mostly missed.

If your words are not the brightest light, the most outrageous or ludicrous,
you are passed over. Professional ethics takes a back seat to outlandish.
I will contend that our people need leadership; someone to follow, understand,
communicate ideas with, to improve. Take the high road in your marketing,
your communications, to become the better attraction marketer in your niche.

For a missed opportunity could change your future, immediately;
acting on an idea has immediate returns as well.
