How often are the words ‘entitlement’ or ‘deserve’ uttered today?

It seems a prevailing attitude grows each year and with catastrophic consequences.
The art of thinking for one self is waning. More and more individuals believe
that they ‘deserve’ to be taken care of.

What could be to blame?

The speed in which technology has helped us become more productive,
retrieve information or obtain answers has been very gratifying yet,
may also contribute to the instant gratification idea growing today.
One could say that this “microwave society” not only has improved our lives
but digressed it as well.

Where ideas used to take time to jell with sketching, testing,
re-working, further testing before implementation, computers allow us to
develop and test in just days. This has to be great for furthering our lives but
with the advent of games, instant downloads and useless videos,
less and less are creating, developing their minds, growing as people.

Worse, many only hear from similar supporting ideas without
doing their own research. If someone on radio/television makes a
statement we agree with, why challenge ourselves to find more
information about the topic to support our opinion. If we hear from
contrarian sides, it is dismissed.

It won’t reinforce our ideals therefore it won’t be filtered.

To be effective in debating, improving ideals and bringing others into
similar thought processes means self-educating. Supportive truths
and correct data requires time; personal research time and organizing
of these facts mentally. This process of construction provides confidence to
express our opinions.

Unfortunately today, ideals support opinions.
Talking points and being in line with those in the main stream
take precedence. Then express these elements to all, louder
if necessary and over those taking differing points.

“Opinions are like elbows and #$$holes – everyone has one”.

Opinions are or should not be supported by bigotry, racist theory,
scorn, political correctness or hatred. These opinions are not constructive,
supportive or positive for any society. These only perpetuate divisiveness
creating greater separations from its people.

In no way will we come together for our greater good.

A loud opinion is simply bullying.

It becomes repetitive, uncontrolled yelling without substance.
Bullying will never bring people together for a common cause only separate
and increase the likelihood that the other side creates its bullying message to counter.

Productive? For whom?

Before we speak about our thoughts or ideals, researching and supportive
FACTS will provide for soft-speak, confident-speak, convincing-speak.
More creative thoughts and words will develop to express ourselves
because there will be no need to bully, to yell, to speak AND listen,
and debate with constructive facts.

Personal responsibility starts inside. It is a mindset; a discipline mentally
to develop. It won’t be found in the instant gratificational products that
eliminate imagination – it comes from self-education; an interest to learn;
a willingness to go beyond ones thought process and
find conflicting facts or supportive facts.

Then and only then can a society become stronger, self-sufficient,
loving and capable of developing its younger members into leaders.

Divisiveness; deserving; entitled – words that hurt; that limit.

Loud opinions expressed over others do the same.

Personal responsibility; self education; healthy debate – words that improve; that grow.

Wikipedia defines Entitlement as –

“ An entitlement is a guarantee of access to benefits based
on established rights or by legislation.
A “right” is itself an entitlement associated with a moral or social principle, such that an “entitlement”
is a provision made in accordance with legal framework of a society. Typically,
entitlements are laws based on concepts of principle (“rights”) which are
themselves based in concepts of social equality or enfranchisement.

In a casual sense, the term “entitlement” refers to a notion or belief that one (or oneself) is deserving of
some particular reward or benefit – if given without deeper legal or principled cause, the term is often
given with pejorative connotation (e.g. a “sense of entitlement”).

Entitlement may also refer to the idea of an entitlement society, in which everyone receives the same or
similar rewards, regardless of education, effort, and willingness to take risk. “

I would define “entitlement” as the lazy way to be apathetic to what it takes to become a successful human.

Rewards are (or should be) given based on the accomplishment of an individual.

It may be argued that parents that did not discipline unruly children were the beginning
contributor to this mentality. It may be argued that schools instilling programs that remove winning
and losing are not preparing young people for ‘real life’ experiences.

There was a recent study done at a high-profile college that went to students and
informing those with a high gpa give several of their points to those that did not or
were close to flunking out. To ‘share’ their exceptional efforts to others who either refused
to work hard or just could not make the grade.

Surprisingly these higher achieving students absolutely refused this form of entitlement,
yet, many would turn around, join the so-called ‘occupy movement’ crying for
the exact entitlement form. Ignorance abounds even with the smarter.

Many in our government today believe entitlement should be presented.
The rich just didn’t work for their own advancement but also for the advancement of others.
These individuals, many of whom are quite rich, don’t provide with their own dollars but
from the multitudes. We ‘owe’ it to those less fortunate!?!

America is by far the most giving nation on earth already.
Many give of themselves, anonymously, to programs that provide assistance
to less fortunate ones – but it seems this is just not enough?

Where was common sense hidden with this thought?

The amount of individuals now on our governments ‘hand-out’ programs has grown
significantly over the past 3-4 years. The current liberal idealistic party that heads the Senate
and White House don’t see a responsibility problem with this type of thinking.
They are buying votes to keep their drunken power – controlling the masses –
because they know what is best?

Can you buy into this ideal?

A persons self worth is based on what is accomplished when the belief may
have not been very strong. A persons self worth is based on trying, failing and
trying again and once success is achieved, they are more empowered with self belief.

If rewards are just given because of the belief of entitlement, there is no self worth,
just apathetic laziness and wanting to receive more – without trying to achieve.
Why should they?
They can just cry loudly and someone just gives it out.

Pathetic if this is where our society is heading.

There will no longer be desire.
There will no longer be a sense of accomplishment.
There will no longer be self confidence.
There will no longer be quality communication traits by people.

Ask an ye shall receive is in the bible, so what, it does not apply to how each of us survives.
This takes perseverance; sweat; desire; wiliness to fail;
a personal responsibility to improve oneself; a true desire to be independent;
and, a deep desire to NOT be controlled by others.

If you believe you are entitled, you are wrong.
The only entitlement we as humans can realistically believe is if we are
absolutely unable to take care of our being; as a baby; as a young still-learning
about life before being sent out into the real world; as a person requiring
help due to loss of movement; as an elderly person unable to care for themselves;
and no other.

If you are capable, then remove this idea of entitlement and get off
your lazy butt, get to work on improving your situation, your self, your mental state.
I don’t support your sense of entitlement one bit.
You obviously never learned how the real world works.
There are winners and losers – the difference is those that win work to win.

They try to succeed again and again. They never ask for any hand-out because
they have a self belief that they have the tools or are going to educate themselves
to obtain the correct tools to succeed.

Lazy, apathetic, lethargic people will NEVER succeed.
Entitlement believing individuals will NEVER be satisfied.
Will NEVER have a self worth to be productive members of an evolving society.
If you want to remain an idealist and believe entitlement is your right,
we need to get into a game of dodge ball, because you WILL be toast.
